Recently, I happened to chance upon My Famicase exhibition わたしのファミカセ展, and the concept behind it is so COOL that I just HAVE to share it!!
Ingeniously combining art/creativity and retrogaming, it’s an annual physical exhibition that started way back in 2005, showcasing hundreds of quirky Famicom cartridge label designs made by fans and artists — alongside with a description of what the fictitious game would be. Occasionally, some of these games are eventually turned into an actual game by their respective creators, just for the fun of it! How cool is that??
While the submissions for 2021 is already over, you may check out http://famicase.com/ent.html again in March 1st 2022, where they will be accepting submissions for next year’s exhibition.
For those staying in Japan, you may visit the physical exhibition at METEOR store in 2-11-9 Nishiogikita, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, from now till end of August 2021. For others like us, we can only admire the various artwork at http://famicase.com/ or here for just the 2021 entries.
